In the years that the dictator, Idi Amin, ruled over Uganda, very many innocent people were slaughtered, beaten mercilessly and, at best, became prisoners in their own homes.
Join our intrepid hero and beautiful heroine on a journey that will take you from the capital city of South Africa, Pretoria, to deep within the heart-land of the otherwise land-locked beautiful country of Uganda.
Witness the misguided ambitions of diplomats, sitting in comfortable chairs at oak conference tables, and compare this to the wild expanses and jungles of central Africa, where tyrants rule absolutely.
Lance Thorburn was born in Johannesburg in 1949, and matriculated from Highlands High School for Boys in 1967.
Like most young South African men at the time, he was conscripted into the South African Defence Force, rising through the ranks, and seeing action in the so called Border War and in Angola. Lance retired from the citizen force in 1991 as an Artillery Major; Pro Patria with leaf, JCM; JCD.
